Soap -The Show

The Vagabond, Garden of Unearthly Delights

Until  March 18th

Most of us have indulged in a warble in the shower and there's plenty to love  about a soak in a tub, but this show takes bathroom playfulness to a new level. From the operatic diva singing Handel's "Splishiah" to a sexy menage a trois splayed across dual tubs, Soap is an amusing acrobatic romp with plenty of breathtaking moments.

A daffy ingenue with a rubber duckie acts as the comedic link between stints of towel twirlling, bathroom balletics and superb aerial gymnastics. The front rows get progressively damp as the show ramps up to a thrilling conclusion with a remarkable full tub gymnastic solo and a slippery trapeze performance.

Entertaining and engaging as it is, Soap slips up occasionally as it changes segments, losing pace and momentum  - a juggling segment is clever enough but sits incongruously amidst the splishy-splashy theme.

In the main, though, Soap is slick and sexy with plenty of thrills and spills, a healthy splash of humour and enough magnificently toned bodies to make mere mortals wary of the bathroom mirror for months to come.

Rating : **** Slippery fun
