Outrage over four-year-old wearing fake breasts
The American pageant circuit is full of pint sized princesses wearing outrageous ball gowns and heavy makeup.
As demonstrated on reality show Toddlers and Tiaras, wigs and hairpieces are the norm, as are fake teeth and fake tan.
However one contestant's mother has taken it a step further, putting fake boobs and bum on her four-year-old daughter.
Maddy Jackson was seen on Toddlers and Tiaras wearing fake C cup breasts and padding on her bottom.
She was dressed up as her icon, country singer Dolly Parton. Known for her curvacious figure and ample cleavage, the child was filmed putting on detachable enhancements before performing her act live on stage.
Many will be shocked to see the pint sized performer trying to emulate a woman in her twenties with an hourglass figure.
However when questioned on the US Today show, mother Lindsay, defended the enhancements.
She told presenter Savannah Guthrie: "To some people, it's over the top, to us it's just what happens... It's just normal. When she wears the fake boobs and the fake butt, it's just like extra bonus."
According to the Daily Mail, her grandmother Barbara also defended the competition and Maddy's participation. She explained the cash prizes can be put towards schooling and toys for the children.
However others didn't seem to be won over by the precocious outfit, Maddy's own stylist Michael Booth saying he thought it was inappropriate.
"I wasn’t a big fan of the outfit with the boobs in it. She’s very young, but hopefully the judges will perceive it in good taste."
Others filmed on the reality show also seemed concerned as they watched Maddy's mother arrange her assets before Maddy crosses her arms defensively.
Lindsay said: "I don't think Maddy knew how to explain and why she had those enhancements on."
Despite Maddy's apparent embarrassment, Lindsay is happy to continue entering her daughter in pageants and says she can stop competing at any time.
Mother gives four-year-old daughter fake tan to 'boost her confidence'
Meanwhile, a mother in the UK is being criticised for putting fake tan on her four-year-old daughter to "help boost her confidence".
Jools Willis regularly gives her four-year-old daughter Tate and her brother Chayce, six, and 10-year-old sister Darcie a fake tanning treatment at her salon. She says the children want to look like her adult customers.
She even gives her 14-year-old son Zac collagen treatment for his spots.
She told the Daily Mail: "Tate has the lowest level of fake tan. It helps her feel included with Darcie. She doesn't have spray tan for cosmetic reasons.
"Darcie is a dancer and when she does shows the tan helps her under the stage lights.
"Beauty treatments help boost a child's' confidence."
She was featured on the UK show Pushy & Proud: Pamper-Parlour Mums, this week.
She said that although she sprays her own daughter, she wouldn't agree to spray tanning a four-year-old customer in her salon.
"The little ones come in here with their mums. Mum has done it and they want it too.
"It is better to have things done by someone who knows what they are doing.
"The tan we use is our own formula so we know it's safe".
As for her children, they all back up their mother, saying they like the way it makes them feel.
Darcie said: "I like having my nails done and I like having a spray tan because I like going really brown.
"It makes me feel better. I wouldn't really mind being pale but I prefer having a spray tan."
As for little Tate: "I like having a spray tan because it makes me look good.
"I like having the same as Mummy and Darcie."
