The New South Wales Attorney General, Greg Smith, has become embroiled in a Catholic priest's sexual abuse investigation, a 7News exclusive can reveal.
7News has reported that Father Finian Egan, parish priest at St Gerards in Carlingford, is being investigated for the sexual abuse of young girls as far back as thirty years ago.
A Catholic Church pronouncement stated that Father Egan had abused girls, and paid one alleged victim named Nikki Wells $100,000 in compensation, it has been reported.
According to 7News Father Egan is due to be charged over alleged sexual abuse attacks on women from his parish.
Egan's alleged victims have simultaneously launched a crusade on Father Egan's powerful friends, Greg Smith and Damien Tudehope, demanding that the state figures reveal whether the sexual abuse case has been discussed between them.
No evidence has emerged suggesting wrongdoing from either Smith or Tudehope.
"If the Attorney-General cannot confirm or deny his on-going support of Finian Egan, he should resign." Nikki Wells told 7News.
Greg Smith says he cannot comment because of the investigation. The difference between good debt and bad debt Yahoo!7 Finance
