Police are now looking into what appears to be a hoax report of a fatal shooting in inner-city Sydney.

Officers were called to an apartment block in Jones Street in Ultimo, just after two o’clock this afternoon, after a call from a man claiming to have shot someone.

When police arrived, the man gave himself up and was taken into custody.

He is now assisting officers at Central Police Station.

Two females and a male are also helping police with their inquiries.
