Exclusive: The face of Sydney

Lee Jeloscek, 7News Sydney December 5, 2012, 6:18 pm

From billionaires to showbiz royalty, the contenders for the Face of Sydney have been chosen in an exclusive survey for Seven News.

Colourful and controversial radio king Alan Jones now ranks as a face of Sydney.

He was forced to apologise for an inappropriate comment about the Prime Minister's father. But it hasn't dampened his popularity.

"It's quite clear there are a lot of people who think I have something to say that they are interested to hear. I'm not sure that makes me the face of Sydney nonetheless," Jones said.

Jones was ahead of chef Kylie Kwong, cricketer Michael Clarke, his ex Lara Bingle, and actresses Cate Blanchette and Nicole Kidman, in the 7News Face of Sydney UMR survey.

Our city is a playground for the rich and famous, so perhaps it's no surprise Gina Rinehart an out-of-towner came second.

Our country's richest person was well behind the runaway winner though, the boy from Oz Hugh Jackman.

The Hollywood heartthrob and all round nice guy says he’s happy to put his hand up and help when he’s back in town.

"I am a Sydney boy, born and bred. I've always loved it even though I love travelling... I feel like I'm doing lyrics to a Peter Alan song!"

"We did do one contest a long time ago. It was a pole dancing competition, but you know Gina wasn't in training at the time," Jackman joked.
