An extraordinary video shot in Western Sydney shows the terrifying ordeal Kingswood residents faced overnight when a fire engulfed a home.

Police were called to Santley Crescent, Kingswood at around 3am this morning after reports that a fire was taking hold of a townhouse.

Residents in nearby units were evacuated and there were fears someone was still inside the townhouse.

Firefighters quickly had the blaze under control, saving nearby homes but the townhouse was destroyed. Luckily they found no one was inside.
