An armed man is believed to be barricaded inside a house in Sydney's south.

Police responded to reports a man was making threats inside a Torres St, Kurnell house just after 5:30am this morning.

The man is believed to be armed with a firearm however no one else is thought to be inside the premises.

A number of shots have been fired at the location.
