Body of missing swimmer in NSW found

The body of a swimmer who disappeared at a Snowy Mountains dam in New South Wales has been located.

Emergency crews were called to Lake Eucumbene about 3pm on New Year's Day, following reports a 44-year-old man could not be found.

Police say the man, from Cooma, had been swimming with family when he went missing.

Personnel from NSW Ambulance paramedics, State Emergency Services, Monaro Local Area Command were called to the scene to begin the search, along with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Sadly, the man was not found on Sunday.

Marine Rescue NSW and Police divers assisted the search on Monday, with the divers recovering the man's body about 12.40pm.

A report is to be prepared for the Coroner.
