7News Centre - Sydney
(In between Phillip St and Elizabeth St, Martin Place).
The Sydney 7News Centre is one of the most technologically advanced digital television centres in the world with a glass-faced, high-definition digital television studio plus digital newsgathering and production video-server technology.
Sony in Japan was commissioned to be Seven's principal supplier and we have worked together to make the Sydney Seven News Centre a showcase for the world's best high-definition studio broadcast technologies.
The 7News Centre is home to the Sydney newsroom of Seven News and the Sydney production offices of Today Tonight, Sunrise and Weekend Sunrise.
Seven produces Sunrise, Weekend Sunrise, Sydney's Seven News and other programming from the studio constructed in the building's atrium. Each of these programs is produced live-to-air allowing the public to watch Seven's programming in production.
Leadership in technology and innovation
Seven's move into digital news represents another step in the network's development - a journey marked by innovation in news and public affairs programming.
In the first days of television, Seven created Australia's first nightly public affairs programme, At Seven on 7 and the first breakfast current affairs programme, Today.
Through the years, 7news has led the development of electronic newsgathering and the introduction of live reporting - both through its newscruisers and helicopters in the first days of video news technologies and live 24 hour satellite links with its bureau in the United States.
Around the corner, across Australia, throughout the world
Seven is Australia's biggest television network and delivers highly awarded national news coverage with local knowledge from a team of dedicated and experienced news journalists.
Seven's North America coverage is headed by bureau chief Mike Amor.
Our news centres in Adelaide, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Mackay, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, coupled with affiliate agreements ensure news coverage across Australia.
Internationally, Seven is linked through the global resources of CNN and NBC - America's leading news network, Sky News in the United Kingdom, and the world's two largest television news gathering companies: Reuters and APTN. In Australia, Seven is a one-third shareholder in the 24-hour news channel, Sky News.
Award-winning news
7news and current affairs programs have been recognised with numerous awards for outstanding news coverage in Australia and overseas.
Locally Seven News has also been presented with TV Week Logie Awards for outstanding achievements in news for coverage including the conflict in East Timor's quest for independence (1999) and the Thredbo landslide (1997).
In 2002 Today Tonight was named most popular public affairs program.
Seven's history at the Walkleys
Television news became eligible for inclusion in Australian journalism's greatest honour, the Walkley Awards in 1982.
That year Seven News shared the first award for best television news report and was awarded the Walkley for the best television current affairs report.
More awards followed in 1984 and 1997.
