Man bashed in the street after confronting gang


A man has been bashed after confronting a gang of thugs who allegedly tried to rob a mobile phone store northwest of Melbourne.

The man was assaulted outside the shop in St Albans on Monday about 5.30pm after he confronted the group, accusing them of trying to rob the store.

CCTV shows the gang circling the man after throwing tables and chairs.

They then throw multiple punches before he falls to the ground.

They then begin to kick him.

A witness, who claims the group were all teenagers, said the victim was left bleeding from the ear and face.

The man was rushed back inside the store, where staff barricaded him inside for safety.

“After the fight they fled,” the witness said. “The rest of their gang was still waiting for the victim outside the shop.”

Other shop owners in the area are also concerned for their safety.

One woman claims she was recently struck in the head several times by two men.

However, she’s not willing to make a complaint meaning police aren’t investigating.
