Malaysia Airlines flight bound for Melbourne makes 'emergency landing'
A Malaysia Airlines flight bound for Melbourne has made an emergency landing in Perth following a medical incident.
Flight MH149, which originated in Kuala Lumpur, was diverted to Perth unexpectedly early on Monday morning arriving at 4.04am (local time) due to a medical emergency, Perth airport confirmed to Yahoo7.
It took off for Melbourne at about 6am and arrived at 12.28pm AEDT.
Malaysia Airlines said the flight was diverted due to a medical case involving a passenger, but added it was not an ’emergency landing’.
“Malaysia Airlines’ crew who had earlier provided assistance onboard to the sick passenger, made a call to divert to Perth to ensure proper medical attention is given to the passenger,” the airline said in a statement.
