Beauty pageant erupts into mass brawl

A man suffered machete wounds when a Sudanese beauty pageant turned into a mass brawl in Clayton last night.

Police and dog squad units were called to shut down the party which attracted around 1,000 people at Clayton Hall last night. When police arrived, fights had broken out on Mary Street and they were forced to dodge flying glass bottles.

Residents, who made a number of triple 0 calls, say they are living in fear.

A 28-year-old man was rushed to hospital with stab wounds after being attacked with a machete.

A man was at a nearby bottle shop when he was robbed by the group.

The party followed the Miss South Sudan beauty pageant Australia.

No arrest have yet been made.

Police are continuing their investigations.
