Clothing label reaches agreement with George Lucas

A Brisbane fashion label that illegally produced Star Wars swimming costumes has pounced on a million-dollar opportunity.

According to the Courier Mail, Black Milk clothing, which started producing its designs out of a kitchen three years ago, turned a "cease and desist" letter from Star Wars creator George Lucas into a potential million dollar deal with the iconic film franchise.

As part of the agreement with Lucasfilm, Black Milk is now legally able to produce Star Wars branded swimsuits.

The Internet-only company operates out of Brisbane and Melbourne, with some of their $90 productions fetching as much as $600 a piece on eBay after production originally stopped.

"It really was just a hobby business when we first made those swimsuits, " marketing manager Cameron Parker told News Limited.

"It was all about turning geek culture sexy."

As news of Black Milk's arrangement broke, 25,000 people were discussing the deal via the company's Facebook page, which has over 140,000 fans.

"This announcement has been the holy grail for a lot of these girls because only a few of the designs were made originally," Mr Parker said.
