Vietnam war vet 'shattered' after being robbed on mobility scooter

A Vietnam war veteran has been left "shattered" after being attacked and robbed as he rode his mobility scooter on Wednesday.

Police said the 69-year-old was walking his dog at about 6.15am on the Rosebud foreshore on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, when he was approached by two offenders.

It is believed the two men jumped out of the bushes and threatened to assault him.

"It makes me scared. You know, you're even more watchful," Barry Morris-Shaoul told the media on Thursday.

Authorities said the two men demanded his wallet but when he told them he did not have one they moved him off his scooter and took off his jacket.

They told him to "walk away" after taking a mobile phone and the scooter keys, as well as a ring and a watch, police said.

"I mean those of us who have served overseas are fairly watchful anyway," Mr Morris-Shaoul said.

"It's going to be even worse now."

The man contacted police after walking into a shopping area in Rosebud. A construction worker raised the alarm for Mr Morris-Shaoul.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
