WATCH: Teen fishermen witness frenzy of sharks gorging on whale carcass

Three mates out fishing have witnessed a frenzy of tiger sharks and great whites, gorging on a whale carcass.

It wasn’t the fishing trip they had planned, but brothers Mitchell and Lewis Williamson had the best seats in the house when the ravenous sharks swam under their boat in a bid to feast on the whale just off the coast of Mindarie, WA.

Joined by their cousin Brodie Moller, the trio watched on disbelief as a tiger shark swam upside down to feed on the decomposing whale.

“First it was scary, but then it got really exciting,” Brodie told 7 News.

Filming the encounter, the boys can be heard screaming “look at the size of that” as a great white reaches out of the water for another bite.

By Sunday, the carcass had drifted a further five kilometres off the shore and as footage from the 7 News helicopter showed, the sharks were still hungry.

A shark warning is still in place for the area, with the fisheries department encouraging divers and fisherman to stay updated on their website.
