Second soldier dies after another training accident

Another soldier has died during a training routine on Australian soil a week after a man was killed during an exercise in Queensland.

The Australian Defence Force said the soldier was taking part in a routine training activity at the Mount Bundey Training Area in Darwin on Wednesday.

He was transported to Royal Darwin Hospital but died about 12.45pm from unknown injuries.

In response, the army has suspended training activities across combat brigades while it undergoes further risk assessment.

Last week a man died after it was believed he struck by a branch at the Shoalwater Bay Training Area in Rockhampton.
