Two police officers injured by man on afternoon rampage

A 41-year-old man will face court on Tuesday after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting four people, including two police officers and ramming a police car on Sydney’s Northern beaches on Sunday.

After allegedly assaulting a man in Manly, the accused attempted to steal a vehicle in a car park in Queenscliff at 1pm

During the failed theft, he allegedly punched the male owner of the car in the face.

A short time later, it’s alleged a white Jaguar 4WD was stolen from Moore Road, Freshwater, and hit a parked police vehicle with two officers inside on Lawrence Street.

The Jaguar stopped on the road and allegedly reversed into the stationary police car, causing significant damage.

The two police officers eventually brought the rampage to an end but not before they too were allegedly assaulted and suffered minor injuries.

The man was charged with larceny, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, common assault, entering a vehicle without consent, driving whilst disqualified, negligent driving, furious driving causing injury, assaulting an officer in execution of duty, resisting an officer in execution of duty and four outstanding warrants.
