Four arrested after horrific beating of man shared on Facebook Live

A young woman who shared the horrific beating of a man on Facebook Live, has been arrested along with three others in connection to the disturbing attack.

WARNING DISTRESSING CONTENT: Chicago Police confirmed the arrests on Wednesday (local time) after the 30-minute video showed a man tied up and his mouth covered, cowering in the corner of a room.

His attackers were heard on camera shouting “f**k Donald Trump” and “f**k white people”.

The man, reportedly with special needs, was beaten and taunted in a horrific attack streamed on Facebook Live.

The man was kicked and punched and his forehead was cut with a knife.

US police described the victim as an 18-year-old with special needs.

He was found by police wandering the street on Wednesday afternoon and taken to a hospital.

Shortly after, officers responded to a battery call at a residence nearby where he was found and saw signs of a struggle and property damage.

After finding the footage online, police determined the man found on the street was the victim and arrested four people allegedly involved.

Chicago Police Department Superintendent Eddie Johnson said the suspects, two men and two women, all 18 years old, was taken into custody and were awaiting formal charges.

He described the attack as “sickening”.

“It makes you wonder what would make individuals treat somebody like that.”

US police are investigating whether hate crime charges are appropriate. It’s not believed the attack was politically motivated.
