Couple wake to find brazen thieves inside their home
An Adelaide couple were fast asleep when two brazen robbers entered their a Unley home and tried to steal their car.
Andrew and his partner woke to find the two armed thieves inside their Hughes Street property, with the duo stealing phones, a wallet and keys to the couple’s Audi.
“The car lights came on and that’s when I yelled at [one of the robbers] and he then panicked,” Andrew said.
“Because he could have easily taken off ‘cause the roller door was up at that point.”
In a moment of panic, the robbers fled but not before threatening Andrew’s partner.
“They had a baton, a wooden baton. That was then thrown,” he said.
Police say the thieves gained access to the property through an open window.
A few hours later, residents at a Parkside home woke to find two of their cars missing.
Police are investigating whether the same thieves were involved in the theft of a black Toyota Rav4 and a white Nissan from the Randolf Avenue home.
Officers later pursued the stolen Nissan to Woodville North where the driver allegedly dumped it and fled on foot.
“Next thing you know, the police have come around the corner and by that stage he was running down the road,” one witness said.
A 34-year-old Findon man was arrested and charged with stealing.
Police are still investigating the brazen robberies.
