Lucky escape for resident: Stolen ute crashes into Melbourne house

A stolen ute has crashed into a Melbourne home after first sideswiping a parked car and ploughing through two fences.

The driver of the stolen car lost control of the vehicle, careering through the front yard before eventually crashing through the exterior of the brick property.

A woman was inside the residence at the time the collision occurred and was luckily unharmed.

The driver of the stolen vehicle fled the scene of the incident in Beresford Road, Lilydale at 4.40am on Sunday.

Victorian police have issued an appeal to the public for anyone with information to come forward.
