Man charged with murder after wife's body found in house fire

A man has been charged with murder after his wife’s body was discovered in a Sydney home that had been gutted by fire.

The husband and two young boys, aged six and nine, managed to flee the fire at the Guildford home in Sydney’s west on Tuesday, however emergency crews discovered the body of the woman, 30, inside.

It’s understood the man called triple-0 to raise the alarm, allegedly telling them she was still trapped inside the home, according to Fairfax.

The home was well alight before fire crews were able to contain the blaze.

Police have said the husband had been questioned in western Sydney.

Police have not said whether the woman was killed by the fire and where her body was located inside the home.

The 43-year-old has been charged with murder. He has been refused bail and is due to appear in Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday.
