Home sprayed with bullets in Melbourne overnight

A mother and her teenage daughter were sleeping inside a home when it was sprayed with bullets in a drive by shooting in Melbourne overnight.

Police said a number of shots were fired into the Beacon Vista house in Port Melbourne around 5pm terrifying the pair.

"I'd be scared myself having shots fired in my direction," Det Insp David Barry said. "Especially if it's the middle of the night when you're asleep."

At least four shots were fired at the home, damaging a window and vehicles parked in the driveway.

Nobody is believed to have been injured in the attack.

Neighbors said they saw a black vehicle driving away with its lights off immediately after the shooting.

The street has been cordoned off and a dozen or more police are currently knocking on doors on the street.
