Woman killed, child injured in jet ski crash

A woman has been killed and a child seriously injured after a jet ski and boat collided on NSW's mid north coast.

According to police, the woman and eight-year-old boy were on the jet ski in the Nerong Inlet at Nerong, south of Forster on Friday afternoon.

The jet ski then collided with a boat at 5.30pm with the woman dying at the scene.

The eight-year-old was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital after suffering spinal injuries in the crash.

He remains in a stable condition, according to police.

The boat's skipper, a 46-year-old man, was also airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, with his injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

A second child, who was on the boat at the time of the crash, was uninjured.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash and are asking any witnesses to come forward and call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
