Around 6.30am a cyclist died on the Go Between Bridge after falling from his bike.

He suffered “critical head injuries” and there were no vehicles involved, initial reports suggesting the fall was medical related.

The two fatal incidents come after a woman and two children have been injured, with an alleged car thief crashing into their vehicle and causing it to flip in Fortitude Valley overnight.

A ute carrying a mother and two children was flipped on its side.

Police say a stolen ute hit the woman's car in Fortitude Valley on Monday night, pushing it onto its side and into a taxi travelling beside it.

All three were taken to hospital but their injuries are not life threatening.

The mother and children were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police caught the alleged offender a short time later after the ute sped off and hit a power pole. The 27-year-old driver was also taken hospital but his injuries are not critical.

The taxi driver wasn't hurt.

A taxi was also hit.

The drama began just after 8pm when a police car spotted the ute travelling the wrong way on two Fortitude Valley streets.

Police tried to stop it but the driver sped off and soon after hit the car carrying the woman and children.

Charges are yet to be laid.
