Motorbike cop thrown onto roof of car during crash

A NSW police crew received a heart stopping call out today, to a crash involving one of their own - who was left unable to move, laying on the roof of a car after being thrown from his motorbike.

The Sydney based motorcycle officer, a senior constable, had been on the job for Traffic and Highway Patrol when his bike slammed into a car on Windsor Rd, just after midday.

The officer was thrown on to the roof of the Mazda and was seen laying on top of the car on his back, unable to move until paramedics came to help.

He was rushed to hospital with back injuries and has since been released.

Witnesses claimed the Mazda changed lanes and stopped to turn into a McDonald’s carpark, when the officer was hit.

Crash investigators have accessed CCTV footage of the collision.

Officers have dropped in to pay their colleague a visit in hospital.

The injured officer is expected to take some time off work to recover.
