Woman slashed with knife in violent robbery attempt at Toorak

A woman has been slashed with a knife during a violent attempted robbery in Melbourne.

The woman suffered a wound to her abdomen that needed hospital treatment after the Toorak attack.

Detectives have released security camera video of a group of men, and one in particular, that they want to question.

In the footage, the victim is seen leaving a Toorak Road tram stop on Saturday morning, being followed by the suspect.

He is then seen running back from the scene of the attack.

He is described as being in his late teens with a slight build and short hair.

The 23-year-old victim identified herself as Kate when speaking to Melbourne’s 3AW radio station.

'He looked really wild-eyed but I'm not sure whether it was an adrenaline thing or a drug thing,' she said.
