Blaze engulfs Sydney factory as 80 firefighters battle inferno

Fire and rescue crews have worked for close to four hours to battle an inferno that has engulfed a Sydney factory.

The fire erupted just after 3.30am at a car wrecking yard in Greenacre.

More than 80 firefighters have worked to battle the blaze, which has spread to a blinds and awnings factory on Rosedale Ave.

Close to 20 fire trucks were at the scene.

The fire was contained just before 7am.

Witnesses reported hearing a massive blast moments before the factory went up in flames.

Flames up to 20m high shot into the air, destroying the building.

Smoke could be smelt and seen from kilometres away.

Traffic is expected to be impacted in the area this morning and road diversions have been put in place.

Diversions were put in place at: Brunker Rd and Anzac St, Brunker Rd and Claremont Ave, Hume Highway and Beresford Ave.

No injuries have been reported.
