Woman carjacked in peak hour on Melbourne freeway after a collision

A man is on the run in a Suzuki Swift after carjacking a woman's car following a peak hour collision at a major Melbourne freeway.

A motorist driving inbound along the Monash Freeway at Endeavour Hills at about 8.30am Monday morning hit another car, causing a domino effect where three other cars were struck.

The male driver of the first vehicle then collided with a nearby truck on the freeway near Heatherton Road.

When all occupants were out of their vehicles, it is believed the man driving the first car offered to move one of the cars, a Suzuki Swift, out of the way for a woman.

But once he was behind the wheel, he allegedly drove away from the scene in the woman's car.

Police have confirmed no weapons were used during the incident and no arrests have been made.

One woman was transported to hospital for observation as police continue their investigations into the theft.
