One man dead after three separate Melbourne shootings in 24 hours

A man was shot dead at a motel room in Melbourne’s north following the city’s third separate shooting in 24 hours.

Reservoir man Mohammed Hassan was with friends at a room in the Parkside Motel in Kingsbury when a shot was fired about 10.45 on Saturday night.

It is believed Mr Hassan was in an upstairs room with a small group of friends when he was shot, but by the time police arrived, his mates had scattered, leaving Mr Hassan for dead.

A motel guest Joy Grainger said she was “really scared” for herself and her young son during the commotion.

"I was frightened. I've got an eight year old boy in there, and all I wanted to do was to get him out of the room and go. We only came to stay for the night."

The tragedy followed two separate shootings in Yarraville and Hadfield earlier the same evening, that may be linked.

Police are still searching for the gunman who fired on two members of the Bros Motorcycle Gang outside the club's Yarraville headquarters the same night, critically injuring one of them.

Just hours later, a man was hit in the leg with a shotgun blast as he left his car near a cafe in Hadfield.

Police are still investigating Mr Hassan’s death, and no arrests have been made in relation to either incident.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews vowed to support Victoria Police as they investigate the spate of shootings.

"We monitor these situations very, very closely and if there's anything more we can do for Victoria Police, whether it's in terms of resources for Victoria Police, powers for Victoria Police, we stand ready to do that."
