Rescue underway of man injured inside Royal National Park

Four people were injured at the Figure 8 pools when a giant wave came ashore at the popular tourist spot in Sydney's Royal National Park.

Two rescue helicopters were dispatched and several surf lifesavers and rescue crew attended the scene.

Earlier in the month a freak wave wiped out 100 beachgoers at the Sydney tourist attraction.

As swimmers tried to flee from the path of the giant wave however it swept them off their feet.

But the danger has not deterred people from heading to the spot with the famous natural rock formations.
