Eleven-year-old boy bitten by shark in Queensland
An eleven-year-old boy has been bitten by a shark off Heron Island in Queensland.
He is in a stable condition after he suffered a significant bite to his right calf.
Queensland Ambulance Service Paramedic Brad Lawson said the boy was in ‘quite good spirits, happy’ and ‘in minimal pain’ after the bite.
He said the boy was bitten by a black tipped reef shark while standing in knee-deep water.
His father removed him from the water and the boy was treated by a nurse at the scene.
The three were transported by air to Gladstone hospital where the boy was reviewed by a medical team.
