Nine dumps Johns from grand final team

NRL commentator Andrew Johns has been stood down from his job at Channel Nine after he was slammed over alleged drunken behaviour at a Queensland airport.

Fairfax reports the former Newcastle, New South Wales and Australia superstar has been told he will not be a part of tonight’s grand final coverage.

He was also notably absent from this morning’s Sunday Footy Show.

Johns’ axing comes after he was slammed on social media for drunken behaviour at a Toowoomba airport on Friday night.

An image of Johns laying on the ground has been widely circulated, as have allegations he propositioned a married woman.

Helen Wright took to Facebook to condemn Johns behaviour after she encountered the Immortal at Toowoomba's Wellcamp airport.

“This is not an example that should be presented to children that were present,” she wrote beneath an image of an unconscious or sleeping Johns.

“Many of the children had taken photos of him passed out. My own sons have played football all their lives and we love the game. But not this aspect of the game,”

Johns has since apologised to Ms Wright for his behaviour, which she described as setting a bad example for young fans.
