The Australian woman behind the voice of Siri

Karen Jacobsen has one of the most recognisable voices in the world – in fact, you probably listen to it on a daily basis.

The Queensland woman, who grew up in Mackay, is the familiar sound behind Siri, the digital personal assistant on Apple Smart devices.

She has come back to Australia to help inspire emergency rescue teams.

Ms Jacobson, who moved to the United States in 2000 to pursue her singing career, says she loves speaking to the masses.

Her voice can now be heard in over four-hundred million GPS and smartphone devices around the world.

Ms Jacobson will head to Mackay next week to speak with members of the CQ Rescue operation.
