Man risks life to save BBQ ribs from house fire

Some people will go to any length for food.

A US man has told how he risked his life to save his BBQ ribs after fire broke out in his next-door neighbour's home.

Robert Wright, from California, woke up in the early hours of Tuesday morning with an overwhelming craving for ribs.

He had just thrown a rack on his BBQ when he saw flames coming from the apartment next door.

Wright quickly got his family outside to safety and then went back in to rescue his second most prized possession.

“First thing, I got my kids. Then I thought about my ribs,” he told KMPH News.

“I didn’t want to let my ribs burn and stuff, ‘cause I take pride in what I do,” he said while proudly holding up a glistening rack of ribs.

“I didn't get any injuries apart from the smoke in my lungs. But I already have smoke in my lungs, so that's alright.”

Wright proudly showed off his ribs during the television interview, which has since gone viral online.

He’s even been labelled an American hero.

Wright’s neighbours managed to climb out of a window and escaped the fire unharmed.

While this is definitely a contender for interview of the year, it's up against some pretty stiff competition.

Antoine Dodson became a minor celebrity for his account of an attempted rape in his neighbourhood. His eye witness testimony set the standard for interview gold.

Ain't nobody got time for that

Dodson has a challenger for the title of all time greatest interview though. This woman's version of events after a fire runs a close second.

Apparently, details are important

The secrets to great television interviews are personality and details. If you nail both of these factors then you might become a star like the Apparently Kid did.

"I like turtles"

Or you could take the political route. When this kid was asked about his day at the fair he took a note right from the politicians' playbook and just answered the question he wanted ask instead.

He likes turtles. Now we know.

And it was like blarraaghghjklh

The turtle kid made more sense that this surfer though. It's been years since this interview hit the web and we still have no idea what he's talking about.
