NSW man injured during neighbourhood fight

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being injured during an alleged dispute with his neighbours on the NSW south coast.

Police say the 36-year-old threatened two other men with a small ornamental axe at Greenbank Grove in Culburra on Tuesday evening.

Police were told a scuffle broke out between the three men after the axe was placed on the ground.

The 36-year-old allegedly fell during the fight and suffered a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain and a fractured neck.

He was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital and later flown to St George Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police will issue a future court attendance notice on the man for assault at a later date.
