Melbourne woman jailed for trying to smuggle ice into Tasmania

A 22-year-old Melbourne woman will serve at least seven months in prison after attempting to smuggle methamphetamine into Tasmania.

Candice Lorraine Bos was sentenced in the Launceston Supreme Court to 14 months in prison, with a seven-month non-parole period.

She was arrested at Launceston airport on October 24 and detectives found about 500g of ice strapped to her body.

Bos had originally pleaded not guilty to trafficking a controlled substance, but last week altered her plea to guilty.

In sentencing Bos, Justice Robert Pearce said she had a good chance of rehabilitation.
