Speedster wanted after NSW police chase

A mystery driver in a stolen Queensland car has eluded police in two high-speed chases in southern NSW.

It's believed the driver has driven almost 1500km in two days after the car was taken during an aggravated burglary in Brisbane's Paddington between 11pm on October 26 and 5.30am the next day.

On Wednesday, near the NSW/Victorian border, the driver of the Nissan X-Trail 4WD led police on two chases near Albury and Wagga Wagga.

In both cases, police broke off the pursuit for safety reasons.

During one chase, items were thrown from the car at police as it raced at 85km/h in a 50km/h area of the Olympic Highway at Uranquinty, near Wagga Wagga.

After a description of the car was broadcast through media outlets, a member of the public reported seeing the vehicle near Canowindra, in the NSW central west.

Patrols were made of the area but the car wasn't found.

The car has Queensland registration plates 555RCX.

Police from three states, including Victoria, are now involved in the search.
