Charred remains found in Melbourne park

The discovery of a man's body near a train line in a suburban Melbourne park has led to the suspension of some train services.

The body was found by a passer-by near a train line in Alma Park East at St Kilda about 6.30am on Monday.

Police say the man has not been formally identified, and they do not yet know how he died or for how long he had been there.

Trains on the Sandringham line have been suspended between South Yarra and Elsternwick at the request of police.
