Fog blankets Melbourne Airport

Thick fog has caused some cancellations and delays at Melbourne Airport.

The airport's general manager for corporate affairs Carly Dixon said the weather affected a mix of domestic and international flights on Saturday before it lifted about 11am.

"We had a handful of delays this morning," Ms Dixon said.

There were a couple of cancellations and some diversions including two flights arriving from Bali, she said.

The airport lifted its low visibility operations shortly before noon.

Ms Dixon said fog usually only affected Melbourne Airport two or three times per year.
