Carjack terror: Pensioner forced to drive 100km up NSW coast

A man has told police he was forced to drive more than 100 kilometres north, up the NSW coast in a bizarre car-jacking.

The 57-year-old was stopped at traffic lights in Leumeah, in Sydney's southwest, on Tuesday morning when a hoodie-clad man jumped in his passenger seat.

The driver told police the stranger, who wasn't believed to be armed, directed him to drive.

He obeyed and drove for more than 100km until he got to a service station on the motorway at Jilliby, near Wyong, when he was told to stop.

The alleged car-jacker got out of the car and disappeared.

Police searched the area and the man's car has been seized.
