Queensland speed limit changes released

The State Government has released results from the first wave of a state-wide speed limit review.

Of 20 of the 100 roads shortlisted from community feedback, 11 will remain at the same speed limit, three are set to decrease and six will increase.

Transport Minister, Scott Emerson said,'Each Road has been reviewed by engineers and police, in line with Queensland's speed limit guidelines, with consideration given to traffic, pedestrians and surrounding infrastructure.'

The speed limit will increase from 60km/h to 70km/h on sections of Williamson Road and Greensward Road in Tamborine.

On the Gold Coast, Olsen Avenue between Smith Street and Southport-Nerang Road will drop from 80km/h to 70km/h.

That will ensure the speed limit is the same throughout the entire section.

The speed on the Scenic Highway between Yepoon and Emu Park Road will be dropped to 60 km/h.

'The community feedback revealed there were too many changes to speed zones on the D'Aguilar Highway between Moore and Benarkin, so speed zones will be reduced from five to three on this stretch,' said the Minister for Transport, Scott Emerson.

Following advice from safety experts, the State Government said there are a number of roads where the speed limit will remain the same, including Samford Road from England Road to Main Street and the Bruce Highway from Glenlee to the Caves.

Speed limits will remain the same until the signs have changed.

Results will be released for the remaining 80 roads over the coming months.
