Police hunt a killer after body found at Monash

Police believe a man whose body was discovered in a home in South Australia’s Riverland was brutally murdered.

Luciano Caruso was found dead inside a house on Brown Rd at Monash yesterday and police are desperate for public help to find his car, which may have been stolen by his killer.

Mr Caruso was reported missing by his father yesterday, and it is understood he had not been seen since November 22.

Officers made the discovery when they attended the house, which is set back 100 metres off the road and surrounded by grape vines.

Detective Inspector Greg Hutchins, from the Major Crime Investigation Branch, said it was obvious from the circumstances he was found in that this was a suspicious death.

“We won’t disclose the cause of death at this time for investigational reasons, but I can say it was violent,” he said.

Police have appealed for help to locate a black 2004 VZ Holden Commodore sedan with registration number XLS408, which is missing from the property.

Forensic investigators and SES volunteers have been scouring the property for clues.

Mr Caruso’s family and close friends were too distressed to speak publicly.
