Elderly man walks away from fiery crash in Adelaide

An elderly man has managed to walk away uninjured after his car crashed into a stobie pole and erupted into a fireball in Adelaide.

Witnesses said residents helped the 83-year-old man from the car after it slammed into the pole on Churchill Rd at Prospect at around 9pm yesterday.

They said he was dragged from the vehicle just moments before it erupted into flames.

It is believe he suffered a medical episode.

“It looked like he might have gone unconscious as he was driving along because the person a few cars behind said he was driving along normally and then just hit he stobie pole and flipped over,” one woman at the scene said.

Firefighters were quick to extinguish the blaze, but the car was destroyed.

The driver was uninjured.
