Aerobic teens set for world championships

Three Adelaide teenagers have been chosen to represent Australia in the physically demanding sport of aerobics at the world championships.

The World Championships are being held in Serbia in October, and while the girls have shown they can handle the pain, they need a hand paying for the trip.

But because it is not recognised as a sport, they cannot get government help.

“It’s like the Olympics of the sport of aerobics,” mother of one of the girls Cherie Allen said.
“You can’t compete at a higher level and please, we just need help to help these girls get over there.

“All three girls have had major injuries throughout the year, but they train through those injuries.”

Their coach does have some reassuring words though.

“They’re the hardest workers I’ve ever dealt with, I’ve coached for eight years and these girls just don’t stop,” coach Stacy James said.

Just one mum will go to Serbia, but they will need all three girls.

If you can help, contact Cherie Allen on 0419 958 474, or via email at sgallen@optusnet.com.au.
