Car clue in Vic backyard murder

A car oddly parked halfway onto a street could provide a vital clue to homicide detectives investigating the murder of a Melbourne mother-of-two.

The body of 49-year-old Teresa Paulino, also known as Teresa Mancuso, was found behind the house she shared with her mother in Reservoir after neighbours heard strange noises and called triple zero.

She was found dead in a backyard, police say.

Police say the mother's death last week is suspicious but have not disclosed the nature of her injuries.

A witness has come forward and recalls seeing a parked four-wheel drive on Massey Avenue near the northern suburbs home, which would have required other motorists to swerve around it to avoid a collision.

Detective Inspector John Potter said the dark-coloured car was reversed in a driveway and parked on the kerb with half of it sticking out on to the road.

"We think this may have significance in the investigation," he said.

"This goes to the potential offender in this case."

Police say there was no sign of forced entry in the home and it is possible that the woman knew her killer.

No one has been arrested at this time.
