Police are investigating a suspicious house fire in the Adelaide suburb of Marleston early this morning.

The blaze had already taken hold by the time fire crews arrived just before 6am.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames and save neighbouring properties, but the damage bill is estimated at $150,000.

Nobody was home at the time.
