Protesters have marched into former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's electorate office, injuring one of his staff.

The small group reportedly forced their way into a private room of the office as one guest was leaving, according to News Limited.

The protesters were believed to be protesting in relation to the recognition of Aborigines in the Constitution.

Six people were taken into custody after police quickly arrived on the scene. No charges have been laid yet.

"In the process of forcing their way into Mr Rudd's office the protesters injured a member of staff. Other staff and volunteers in the office at the time are understandably shaken," a spokesman said.

"A decision on if charges will be pressed has not been made. At this stage the protesters have not offered an apology to the staff members present at the incident.
