Man engulfed in flames after generator explodes
A man has received serious burns after a generator he was filling with fuel exploded at a building site in Adelaide’s south.
The man is in hospital in a serious condition after the accident at the Masonic Memorial Village at Somerton Park at around 10.30am.
A witness told 7News other workers on the building site rolled the man around on the ground to extinguish the flames.
“As I got out the lift shaft, I just seen a guy come running across the building site on fire,” Jordan Rodgers said.
“Quite a lot of flames coming off of him, and a really crazy scene to see.
“The flames were just really intense; it took quite a while to get him out.”
He said other workers used fire extinguishers to douse the fire on the trailer where the man was working.
Safework SA is investigating.
