Race for the White House

American citizens go to the polls in November 2008 to elect a new president. The chosen leader will replace George W. Bush, who has been in office since January 2001.

The Republican candidate is John McCain, a Vietnam veteran; the Democrat candidate is Barack Obama, who beat Hilary Clinton to the nomination in June.
