Dramatic moment 13-year-old boy saves friend from pool drowning

A teenage boy has managed to save a 12-year-old boy from drowning in an apartment swimming pool in the US.

Cody Runyon, 13, told CBS Minnesota he was swimming when he noticed a boy, Evan, 12, unconscious on the bottom of the pool.

Dramatic footage shows Cody diving into the water before grasping the 12-year-old and carrying him to the edge of the pool.

Cody said he put the Evan’s head over his shoulder and tried to carry him out.

His friend, Desiree Pasko, was on hand at the water’s edge. Together, they pulled the boy from the water.

Ms Pasko said she was “terrified” but began to perform CPR. She said the 12-year-old’s cheeks began to turn pink.

She told Good Morning America she thought Evan was dead.

But Ms Pasko gave “two more big pumps” onto Evan’s chest and prayed he would vomit.

The boy woke and coughed.

“I started screaming, ‘he’s alive! He’s alive!’” she said.

“Without Cody and Des I wouldn’t be alive,” he said.
